The Spadel group invests €17 million in the development of its Devin subsidiary in Bulgaria
The Spadel group announces an investment of €17 million in a new fully automated distribution centre and the replacement of two production lines in Bulgaria. This major investment will enable the Devin brand, which has been part of the Spadel group since 2017 and is a leader in the bottled water market in Bulgaria, to continue its growth in a very buoyant market and guarantee its production requirements until 2028.
Since it was acquired by Spadel, the Devin brand has made a positive visible contribution to the group’s results, exceeding all targets. The water sold by Devin has not only succeeded in maintaining its position as undisputed leader in the Bulgarian bottled water market, the brand has also managed to grow at a faster pace than its competitors in the particularly vibrant bottled water market in Bulgaria.
To support the development of the Devin brand, the Spadel group today announced a major investment of €17 million in Bulgaria. This industrial investment will notably enable the Devin factory, situated in the heart of the Rhodopes mountain region, to increase the capacity of the six production lines and thereby cater for the growth in volumes.
Significant potential for growth
With these more efficient tools, Devin, which produces both natural mineral water as well as spring water, will be able to best meet the needs of Bulgarian customers and guarantee its production requirements until 2028. The investment plan also provides for the construction of a new, entirely automated, distribution centre, with the added bonus of a significant increase in its operational efficiency.
“This investment in Bulgaria is a recognition of the energy and know-how of the Devin teams, which are achieving remarkable results in a highly competitive market,” emphasises Marc du Bois, CEO of the Spadel group. “We took the decision to invest a considerable amount in the development of our Bulgarian activities because we are convinced that it is a market in which there is still significant potential for growth.”
